The Palladium-item has a great piece on the evolution of area libraries into community centers. It’s impressive to see institutions that may have strong connotations of “just being about books” willing to make big changes as community needs shift.
the constant reinvention of services is a struggle, but library staff try to focus on what they know they can do and do it well.
Other community institutions that think they can’t or shouldn’t break out of their traditional roles could probably learn a lot from this kind of adaptive, creative thinking.
